Pure genius! That’s how I describe Nancy Berwid and First Take!

Nancy is an inspiring personality with a true gift for teaching the art of acting. Her First Take classes teach a system through which an actor at any level can find more truth and honesty in their work while preparing to work in the competitive Film and Television industry. It’s the actor’s edge!

First Take embodies all the principles that helped me achieve success as a competitive athlete; effort, discipline, teamwork, and outstanding coaching. Through the application of specifically ordered elements of scene study, or “homework” as it is affectionately called, actors are trained to bring forth honesty, spontaneity, and their own uniqueness to the work. The process is both challenging and invigorating as it demands each and every actor to bring forth their best each week, there is no “winging it”! The culture amongst all students in First Take is one of mutual support with a common goal of growth and success. It’s an amazing group of people, I feel like I’ve made friends for life!

In just over two years studying with Nancy I have been able to grow my acting skills in a measurable way, meet numerous top LA Casting Directors, audition for a large studio television show, and sign with both a Manager and well respected LA Theatrical agent.

I have also benefited immensely from the very practical aspects of the First Take sessions. Learning audition techniques, as well as the business side of acting has helped me tremendously in having a clear understanding of how to build a career in this highly competitive and exciting profession.
